LOS ANGELES, CA – May 13, 2025 – Janet Jackson will be honored with the prestigious Icon Award at the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs) scheduled for Memorial Day, May 26. The award recognizes Jackson’s influential music career spanning over five decades.

Jackson, a global icon and 11-time AMAs winner, will also perform live at the star-studded event, marking her first television performance since 2018. The ceremony will be hosted by Jennifer Lopez and broadcast live at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT from Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

<pThis marks a significant year for Jackson as it celebrates her enduring impact on the music industry, including the recent resurgence of her hit single "Someone to Call My Lover." The song has reached No. 3 on the R&B Digital Songs chart, seeing a staggering 1,400% increase in year-to-date on-demand streams in the U.S., according to Luminate.

Jackson’s career accolades are extensive, including five Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards, and a Golden Globe Award. She stands out as one of the best-selling artists in history, with over 180 million records sold worldwide.

Following the AMAs, Jackson will start the spring leg of her Las Vegas residency, performing at the Resorts World Theatre from May 21 to May 31. This residency follows her successful 2024 launch.

Fan voting for this year’s awards is currently open until May 15, 2025, with Kendrick Lamar leading the nominations with ten nods. Jackson expressed gratitude for her upcoming performance and recognition, sharing that she looks forward to being on stage again.
