LOS ANGELES, CA — Jeff Goldblum is adding another accomplishment to his already busy schedule with the release of his new album, “Still Blooming,” set to debut on April 25 on Decca Records and Verve in the U.S. This latest project comes amid a promotional whirlwind for the Broadway adaptation, “Wicked,” and its follow-up film, “Wicked: For Good.”

Goldblum’s fourth album showcases a collection of classic standards from Broadway’s golden era and the Great American Songbook. Collaborating with his long-time band, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, he hopes to connect listeners with the timeless music of the past. The album features high-profile guest artists, including Scarlett Johansson, Ariana Grande, and Cynthia Erivo.

The lead single, “The Best Is Yet to Come,” spotlights Johansson, who Goldblum met while working on Wes Anderson’s films, “Isle of Dogs” and “Asteroid City.” He shared, “We were at the premiere of [the latter] and got to talking about my musical life. She said, ‘Well, I’d like to do something,’ and suggested that song.”

Goldblum expressed deep admiration for his collaborators, stating, “I just think the world of them.” He recalled an experience on the set of “Wicked,” where he felt overwhelmed by their talent. He said, “I could’ve been intimidated, but they were so warm. Pretty soon I was singing everything from The American Songbook, all of which they knew and joined in.”

Reflecting on a memorable moment, Goldblum shared a story about Ariana Grande recognizing a classic tune, “I Don’t Know Why (I Just Do).” He recalled, “She told me her grandfather used to sing it to her all the time,” and noted that Grande’s rendition with his orchestra opens the album.

He also revealed that he invited Cynthia Erivo to sing on the album, and the duo chose “We’ll Meet Again” for her contribution. Erivo recorded her vocals at The Hobby Shop studio in Los Angeles, which Goldblum described as an emotional experience: “There were chills and tears as usual.”

Goldblum reminisced about his experiences watching Grande and Erivo perform at various events, including the Oscars. He reflected, “I could cry just thinking about it.” The actor and musician expressed how grateful he feels for the opportunities he’s had to work alongside such talent.

Throughout the interview, Goldblum also shared his passion for jazz, even recounting the strangest places he’s played the piano. Looking ahead, he discussed his desire to continue flourishing creatively. “I’ve always said I’m a late bloomer,” he said, noting his recent experiences in fatherhood and his evolving career. “My acting feels like it’s better than ever and I’m getting opportunities to exercise that and my music.”

Listeners can look forward to experiencing the evolution of Goldblum’s artistry with “Still Blooming,” which promises not just nostalgia but also a fresh take on beloved classics.
