Jennifer Coolidge Thanks "evil Gays" After Winning Drama Actress Emmy For The White Lotus

Actress Jennifer Coolidge expressed her gratitude to the “evil gays” as she accepted the Emmy for Drama Actress during the 24th annual Emmy Awards ceremony on Monday night.

Among the nominees in the category were Rhea Seehorn for Better Call Saul, Elizabeth Debicki for The Crown, Meghann Fahy, Sabrina Impacciatore, Aubrey Plaza, and Simona Tabasco for The White Lotus, as well as J. Smith-Cameron for Succession.

As Coolidge took the stage to collect her award, she playfully mentioned that she didn’t have the strength to hold the trophy and placed it down before delivering her acceptance speech.

She expressed her gratitude to the creator of The White Lotus, Mike White, and joked about her character Tanya McQuoid’s fate, acknowledging that White had confirmed her character’s demise. Referring to her character’s storyline, Coolidge humorously stated, “He [White] says I’m definitely dead so I’m going along with it.”

Coolidge then made a light-hearted remark, saying, “I want to thank all the evil gays.” Her speech was interrupted when the host Anthony Anderson‘s mom, who was monitoring speech times, held up a sign signaling that her time was running out.

In her closing remarks, Coolidge encouraged aspiring actors to pursue their dreams and shared her own experience of overcoming doubts and achieving success. She said, “I had a little dream in my little town, and everyone said it wasn’t practical and it was far-fetched. It did happen after all, so don’t give up on your dream.”

The 24th annual Emmy Awards were held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and aired live on Fox. Anthony Anderson served as the host of the ceremony.
