Jennifer Lopez Cancels TV Appearances Amid L.A. Wildfires
Jennifer Lopez has canceled her upcoming slate of TV appearances, including interviews on ‘Today,’ ‘The View,’ and ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ to focus on supporting relief efforts for the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. The 55-year-old actress and singer was scheduled to promote her new movie, ‘Unstoppable,’ but has shifted her priorities to aid the community during the crisis.
A source close to Lopez told PEOPLE, ‘It’s important to her to focus on supporting the community of Los Angeles during this very difficult time.’ The decision comes after the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Unstoppable’ was canceled earlier this week due to safety concerns related to the wildfires and extreme wind conditions.
The wildfires, which began on Tuesday, have rapidly spread across multiple areas of Los Angeles, including Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Altadena, and the Hollywood Hills. As of Thursday, at least 10 fire-related deaths have been reported, with tens of thousands of residents under evacuation orders. Authorities estimate damages could reach $150 billion.
Lopez is among several celebrities amplifying relief efforts. Other stars, including Miley Cyrus and Leonardo DiCaprio, have also contributed to wildfire relief initiatives. Additionally, numerous celebrities, including Gerard Butler and Rainn Wilson, have revealed that they lost their homes in the fires.
Hollywood has responded to the emergency by postponing major events, including the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globe nominations announcement. The entertainment industry continues to assess the impact of the fires on upcoming projects and events.
Lopez’s new movie, ‘Unstoppable,’ will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video starting January 16. Despite the cancellations, her team remains committed to supporting both her film and the Los Angeles community during this challenging time.
