Jennifer Lopez Hosting American Music Awards

Las Vegas, Nevada – Jennifer Lopez is gearing up to host the American Music Awards on May 26, but she recently sustained an injury during rehearsals. The 55-year-old singer shared a photo on her Instagram Stories on May 13, showing a cut across the bridge of her nose.

Lopez disclosed in her post, “So…this happened,” indicating the injury was a result of her preparations for the awards show. Another Story showed her icing the injury.

A follow-up post confirmed that Lopez received treatment from Dr. Diamond, and she expressed, “A week later and a whole lotta ice and I’m good as new.” With less than two weeks to recover, the star is aiming for a flawless appearance during the ceremony.

This year marks Lopez’s return to the AMAs stage a decade after her hosting debut in 2015. Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, announced her as host on April 9, praising her talent and stage presence. He said, “Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show.”

Lopez commented on her love for the AMAs, reminiscing about watching them as a child. “It’s pretty incredible, right? Fifty years of the American Music Awards,” she recalled, reflecting on her performance debut in 2001 and the amazing energy she felt.

In addition to hosting, Lopez looks back fondly on her career at the AMAs, having performed over ten times and winning the favorite Latin artist award in 2011. This award, she said, was “incredibly special” and a humbling experience.

Away from the spotlight, Lopez celebrated Mother’s Day on May 11, sharing a heartfelt message with fans. She posted a photo of herself with her children and a lovely bouquet, wishing all mothers love and joy. The American Music Awards will be broadcast live from Las Vegas at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
