Jeremy Renner to Narrate AI-Animated Feature ‘Stardust Future’

LOS ANGELES, CA — Jeremy Renner will lend his voice to the animated feature film “Stardust Future: Stars and Scars,” which its creators claim is the first feature-length film produced entirely with artificial intelligence. The film is set for a theatrical release in November 2025 and marks a reunion between Renner and filmmaker Yi Zhou, who previously collaborated on the documentary “Chronicles of Disney.” Renner plays the Oracle of Time, a narrator guiding viewers through a story that spans from the universe’s origins to the year 2080.
This role represents Renner’s return to voice acting following a near-fatal snowplow accident in 2023. Zhou’s production company, Into the Sun Entertainment, plans an extensive awards campaign aiming for multiple Oscar nominations, including categories for animated feature, original score, original song, sound, film editing, and visual effects.
The film features a 3D digital cameo of fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg and boasts a score that combines Zhou’s compositions with music initially created by the late Ennio Morricone. Zhou stated that the film integrates 2D and 3D animation techniques to create a unique visual narrative.
Revenue from the film will support two charities: Renner’s Rennervation Foundation, which assists foster youth, and the Motion Picture and Television Fund, which helps entertainment workers affected by California’s wildfires this year. Zhou noted the film explores themes like the climate crisis, human conflict, and mortality through a philosophical lens, questioning the balance between advancing technology and nature.
“Stardust Future is born from the intersection of human resilience and machine imagination,” Zhou said. “We used AI not as a replacement for creativity but as an extension of memory to heal the broken aspects of humanity and to envision our future.” Zhou, an accomplished multimedia artist, aims to use the film to foster positive discussions about AI’s role in art.
The film’s combination of 2D and 3D animation is designed to reflect the contrasts between memory and reality, symbolizing the journey of human experience. Zhou has showcased her work internationally at major art venues, including the Venice Biennale and Cannes. With a focus on elevating marginalized voices in cinema, she founded Into the Sun Entertainment as a female-led, Asian American and Pacific Islander production company.
As Renner shifts his focus to philanthropy alongside his entertainment career, his Rennervation Foundation was established in 2024 to support various causes, including recovery for wildfire victims and mentorship for youth.
