Jessica Lange American Horror Story Premiere

GLASGOW, Scotland — Jessica Lange has firmly stated she will not be returning to the “American Horror Story” franchise, dismissing any potential for an appearance in the series’ upcoming 13th season. During a recent interview at the Glasgow Film Festival, where she was promoting her new film, “Long Day's Journey Into Night,” Lange responded to questions about her return with an emphatic, “Oh Christ, no!”

When asked by an Irish radio station if she would consider reprising her role in the rumored final season, Lange added, “I mean, I haven’t done it for more than ten years, twelve years, so, no, I’m not doing it.” This marks a notable departure from her past involvement, where she starred in the first four seasons of the anthology series from 2011 to 2015.

Lange’s connection to “American Horror Story” began with the inaugural season, known as “Murder House,” where she portrayed the iconic character Constance Langdon. She returned for subsequent seasons including “Asylum,” “Coven,” and “Freak Show,” earning two Primetime Emmy Awards throughout her tenure. Her last full appearance in the series was in 2018, when she briefly reprised the role of Constance for the “Apocalypse” season.

Despite her exit from the franchise, Lange has continued to work with series creator Ryan Murphy. She starred as Joan Crawford in the acclaimed series “Feud: Bette and Joan” in 2017 and appeared in “The Politician” in 2019. Most recently, she played Lillie Mae Faulk in Murphy’s latest installment of the “Feud” anthology series.

As rumors circulate about the show’s future, Lange’s definitive statement has become a topic of interest among fans. Ryan Murphy, the creator, has hinted that “American Horror Story” Season 13 may see the return of popular alumni such as Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, but Lange’s absence will undoubtedly leave a significant void.

As of now, no official announcement has been made regarding whether Season 13 will actually be the series’ last, but Lange’s remarks make it clear that she will not be part of whatever closure may come for fans of the franchise.
