Jin Returns to the Stage with Coldplay in Seoul Concert

SEOUL, South Korea — Fans were treated to a special performance on April 20, 2025, when Jin, a member of the internationally acclaimed K-pop group BTS, joined Coldplay during their concert in Seoul. This marked Jin’s first concert appearance following his military discharge in June 2024.

Before enlisting in the military in 2022, Jin’s final performance had been with Coldplay at a concert in Argentina, making the reunion in Seoul particularly significant for both the artist and his fans. Social media was abuzz with videos and images of the memorable collaboration between Jin and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

At the concert, Jin made a playful entrance, holding a sign that read, “Pick me please. Can I sing The Astronaut with you?” After Martin read the sign, he knelt down and pointed at Jin, who responded with a bow. The pair performed “The Astronaut” and “My Universe,” resulting in an emotional and joyous atmosphere throughout the venue. A heartfelt moment was captured in a photograph where Martin embraced and kissed Jin on the cheek.

During their time on stage, Jin engaged in a light-hearted conversation with Martin. The Coldplay singer inquired about Jin’s name, to which he proudly responded, “My team is BTS.” Martin acknowledged Jin, saying, “Oh.. Your team is BTS!” To which Jin affirmed, “BTS, you know?” Martin then added, “OK. I heard of you guys. And we are Coldplay, the second-best band in the world. BTS maybe number 1 I think!” To this, Jin humbly replied, “Oh no! I don’t think so.”

Martin continued, “We missed you, man. You’ve been in the military, but you still look so handsome. Look at this beautiful man.” Jin respectfully acknowledged the compliments, with Martin recalling their last collaboration, saying, “We sang together in Argentina.” Jin confirmed, “Yes, we performed together two years ago. Before I went to the military, the last performance was Coldplay. And my first concert was Coldplay.”

Martin expressed gratitude for Jin’s role in forging the relationship between their two groups, stating, “It’s all because of you that we have a relationship with BTS.”
