Jinkx Monsoon to Star in Broadway’s ‘Oh, Mary!’ This Summer

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Jinkx Monsoon, known for her standout performances on “RuPaul's Drag Race” and “Drag Race All Stars,” will take over the lead role in the Broadway production of “Oh, Mary!” this summer.
Monsoon’s announcement came after current star Cole Escola was nominated for best lead actor in a play for the role. Escola also wrote the play, describing it as “one of the best things I’ve ever seen.” Monsoon praised Escola as a “genius” and stated, “Cole is easily the funniest person alive and I’m just lucky to be alive at the same time.”
<p“Oh, Mary!” is a humorous take on American history during Abraham Lincoln‘s presidency, depicting the tumultuous relationship between Lincoln and his wife, Mary Todd, leading up to a pivotal night at the theater.
Monsoon will perform from August 4 to September 27, taking over after Tituss Burgess. Escola originated the role when the show debuted last summer and briefly returned for a limited engagement in April.
Throughout her career, Monsoon has captivated audiences with her theatrical flair and sharp humor, particularly during the iconic Snatch Game segments on “Drag Race.” She has performed in various productions, including “Chicago” and “Pirates! The Penzance Musical,” and has starred as Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors” off-Broadway. Alongside fellow drag performer BenDeLaCreme, she also entertains fans with a seasonal holiday show.
