Jodie Turner Smith Joshua Jackson Divorce News

LOS ANGELES, CA — Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson are in the midst of divorce proceedings that began with her filing in October 2023. The couple had been married for four years and share a daughter, Juno, born in April 2020. Although they are separating, both parents are attempting to co-parent their child effectively.

Turner-Smith expressed her views on co-parenting during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. “It’s just about — and that’s all you can do,” she said in November 2024. “Nobody gets everything right but at least when you know you’re focused on the right thing, you know you’re gonna do your best.”

Despite their split, Turner-Smith has stated that she does not regret her marriage. In a February 2025 interview with The Times, she noted, “Sometimes things we really want to work just don’t end up working. And that’s OK. The most important thing is that you choose what’s healthiest for you and your family.”

According to court documents, Turner-Smith cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and is seeking joint custody of their daughter. Their date of separation was listed as September 13, 2023. A source revealed that Jackson was surprised by Turner-Smith’s decision, indicating the couple had been facing challenges common among busy actors balancing family life.

Jackson has since requested a change to the separation date and has contested financial arrangements, including child support. He suggested court mediation to resolve their differences but also asked that child support obligations be terminated. Turner-Smith accused him of failing to provide both child and spousal support since their separation began, claiming $8,543 monthly for child support and $28,641 for spousal support.

In her filing, she remarked that Jackson had previously promised to support her and their child, insisting on financial security for their family, especially in light of the challenges faced by Black women. Currently, tensions exist over custody arrangements and child support payments.

Turner-Smith’s attorney, Laura Wasser, alleged that Jackson has been uncooperative about custody time with their daughter. Court documents showed that they struggled to reach an agreement regarding custody and school decisions for their child. Jackson has raised concerns about how the divorce could impact his relationship with his daughter, stating on a podcast, “If I ever did anything to estrange my daughter from myself, I would be in duress.”

While the couple resolved some divorce terms, they remain at odds about their daughter’s schooling. Turner-Smith seeks the ability to choose her child’s school, but Jackson opposes the move. According to mediation records, the couple has agreed on a temporary 50-50 custody arrangement, with Jackson currently obligated to pay $2,787 monthly for child support. Turner-Smith has also requested additional payments to cover her legal fees.
