Joe Jonas Talks Parenting Daughters After Sophie Turner Divorce

Los Angeles, CA — Joe Jonas is opening up about the challenges of raising his two daughters, Willa and Delphine, after his divorce from Sophie Turner. The singer, who appeared on a podcast on August 5, reflected on how his life as a ‘girl dad’ is vastly different from growing up with three brothers.
“Boys are so different than girls,” said Jonas, 35. “I’ll watch my kids on the playground and it’s, like, delicate. And then this kid will be like, ‘Ahh!’ And dive off the top of the slide. And you’re just like, ‘That is a boy.’” Amy Poehler, the podcast host, chimed in with a laugh, saying, “Your frontal lobes close later.”
Jonas also remembered his own upbringing, crediting his mother, Denise, for her leadership in raising four boys. “Four boys in one home. She was the boss, you know,” he said. “Growing up, we needed a loud voice like her to be able to control us and also make sure that we weren’t pieces of s—t.”
Despite their split, Jonas appreciates the relationship he has with Turner, stating, “I have a beautiful co-parenting relationship that I’m really grateful for.” He praised Turner as “an incredible mom” and emphasized the importance of having strong female role models in their daughters’ lives.
He shared his hopes for Willa and Delphine, saying, “I want them to be open-minded and have a big heart, to walk into any room with confidence and know that they can do literally anything they want.”
The couple, who married in 2019, finalized their divorce in September 2024, after a challenging custody battle. Turner has previously spoken about the impact of their public divorce on the children, stating, “They’re the victims in all of this. I think we’re doing the best we can.”
