John Hancock Group Welcomes Two New Trustees

BOSTON, Nov. 13, 2025 — The John Hancock Group of Funds has added two independent trustees to its Board of Trustees, effective immediately. Christine L. Hurtsellers and Kenneth J. Phelan will bring their extensive backgrounds in financial services to enhance the board’s capabilities.

Dr. Hassell McClellan, Chairperson of the Board, expressed excitement about the new appointments, stating, “Their backgrounds and experience will bring additional insights and perspectives to navigate the complexities of the current financial landscape.” The board now includes twelve independent trustees and two interested trustees.

Hurtsellers, former Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer, Fixed Income, at Voya Investment Management, has vast experience in risk management and corporate strategy. She has also served on boards of several large non-profits and a life and annuity reinsurance firm.

Phelan, who has been a chief risk officer at the U.S. Department of the Treasury among other roles, brings a strong legal and regulatory compliance background. His experience in banking and investment management is expected to contribute significantly to the board’s oversight capabilities.
