Judge Greg Mathis Faces Divorce After 39 Years of Marriage
Judge Greg Mathis, renowned for his long-running television courtroom show, is now navigating personal legal matters as his wife of 39 years, Linda Mathis, has filed for divorce. According to court documents, Linda filed for divorce on Thursday, August 22, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the cause for the separation.
In the filed documents, Linda is seeking spousal support from Greg while requesting that her own need for spousal support be waived. The couple has listed their date of separation as July 17.
Greg and Linda were married in June 1985 and are the parents of four adult children: Jade, born in May 1985; Camara, born in October 1987; Greg Jr., born in January 1989; and Amir, born in July 1990. With all the children being over 18 years old, there will be no custody or child support disputes.
The Mathis family has been featured together on the 2022 reality show from E!, which highlighted significant family milestones, including Greg receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. During the show, Greg expressed that the honor was a pinnacle of his professional achievements but emphasized the foundation of support provided by his family.
Greg praised Linda for her unwavering support throughout their marriage, stating, ‘After coming out of the streets in Detroit, Linda allowed me to work 15 hours a day, five, six days a week. So it’s that support that allowed me to pursue the success that you see.’ Linda echoed this sentiment, asserting that their bond runs deep.
Greg Mathis, a former judge in Michigan‘s 36th District Court, is widely recognized for hosting Judge Mathis, which aired for 24 seasons from September 13, 1999, until May 25, 2023. Following the conclusion of his show, he announced plans for a new series set to premiere in fall 2023.
The couple’s divorce filing has not yet revealed whether there is a prenuptial agreement in place. Representatives for both Greg and Linda did not respond immediately for comments regarding the filed divorce.
