Julia Fox Discusses Motherhood and Past Relationships

Los Angeles, CA — Julia Fox, known for her role in ‘Uncut Gems,’ became a mother in January 2021 when she welcomed her son, Valentino, with ex-husband Peter Artemiev. As she focuses on acting and parenting, Fox also addresses her past relationships and their impact on her identity.
Fox has made headlines not only for her talent but also for her high-profile romances, which she openly critiques. In an interview with Marie Claire in 2024, she expressed her desire not to be defined by her relationships. “I don’t ever want to just be known as someone’s girlfriend. I know I’m so much more than that,” she said. She cited the industry’s tendency to label women based on their partners’ successes.
After marrying Artemiev just a month into dating in November 2018, their relationship was short-lived, ending in 2020. During a podcast episode of ‘Forbidden Fruits,’ Fox described their wedding as whimsical but noted the marriage turned complicated. “We were so in love. I literally dreamed him up,” she reminisced about their time together.
Fox’s parenting experience with Artemiev has been complicated. After their divorce, she took to Instagram to express frustration over his parenting. “I wanted to scare him into being a better dad, but I went about it the wrong way,” she admitted later in an interview.
Her post-divorce dating life included a brief rumored romance with rapper Drake, which Fox described as friendly without any romantic involvement. “I wouldn’t say that we were dating,” she clarified.
Fox gained attention for her brief relationship with Kanye West, which she noted was filled with drama and stress. “I don’t have the bandwidth or emotional capacity for it,” she explained. Fox also cited controlling behavior from West regarding her public image and wardrobe decisions.
Following her experiences in dating, Fox declared in her podcast that she was “done with men.” She views her celibacy as a form of rebellion against the societal pressures women face regarding relationships. “Why would I lay down with someone who won’t stand up for me?” she questioned, referencing the political climate around women’s rights.
As she navigates motherhood and her career, Fox continues to prioritize her own identity and aspirations above everything else.
