Junior enters the game following a 1-0 away victory over Alianza in Valledupar, bringing their points total to 28. If Junior secures a win against Pereira, they will guarantee a spot in the upcoming playoff round.

Junior’s coach Alfredo Arias emphasized the importance of their next match, stating, “We will leave everything on the pitch, and hopefully, we win.”

Pereira, currently positioned 12th with 18 points, is fighting to enter the top eight. They recently edged Millonarios with a 3-2 victory, keeping their playoff hopes alive. However, Pereira has struggled to achieve wins on the road this season, with their last away victory being a 1-0 win against Junior on April 26, 2025.

Junior’s recent elimination in the quarter-finals of the Copa BetPlay against America has raised concerns about player fatigue impacting their league performance. Arias noted, “After playing in the Cup, we always arrived at the next League matches with someone feeling off, tired. We definitely wanted to qualify and we did everything possible to win and continue in this competition, but the reality is that when both competitions coincided, it weighed heavily on us.”
