Junior Fc Vs Deportes Tolima Match Preview

Barranquilla, ColombiaJunior FC is set to host Deportes Tolima at the Estadio Metropolitano on Sunday, October 5, as part of the league’s 14th matchday. The game is scheduled to kick off at 5:15 PM local time and will be broadcast live on WIN.

Junior, currently leading the standings with 25 points, aims for their second consecutive home victory to boost their chances of reaching the playoff round. The team recently secured a win against Deportivo Pasto, and another victory against Tolima would bring them closer to qualification.

On the other hand, Tolima has faced setbacks recently, losing their last two matches. They presently sit in sixth place with 20 points. The team was unable to hold onto a lead against Medellín in their last outing, ultimately losing 3-2.

“It’s a tough match against an excellent team, probably the best in Colombia at the moment. They deserve credit for coming back from a 2-0 deficit against us, which is quite rare as we usually concede few goals,” said Lucas González, Tolima’s coach.

Defender from Paraguay scored twice in the previous meetings against Junior, demonstrating his skills on both ends of the field. Additionally, a 21-year-old forward recently netted two goals against Medellín in Ibagué.

Junior’s last encounter in the league was a loss to America in the quarter-finals of the Copa Betplay, a match that ended 2-1 in favor of their opponents. Coach Alfredo Arias expressed confidence in his team’s performance. “I’m feeling down, but I’m glad the team gave their all. We deserved more. We need to recover some players ahead of our next match against a well-rested opponent,” he stated.

Overall, Tolima has gathered nine points from six away games, achieving three wins and three draws while scoring five goals and conceding six. Their last away victory was a 2-0 win against Vinotinto y Oro on June 19, 2025, at the Murillo Toro.
