LOS ANGELES, CA — The highly anticipated film, Jurassic World: Rebirth, is set to hit theaters on July 2, 2025, introducing audiences to a fresh wave of prehistoric nightmares.

Directed by Gareth Edwards and featuring stars like Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, the film explores a DNA-collecting expedition into uncharted territory where groundbreaking genetic experimentation has led to the creation of new dinosaur hybrids.

Among the creatures featured, the Distortus Rex, or ‘D-Rex’, stands out. Edwards describes it as, “kind of like if the T-Rex was designed by H.R. Giger, and then that whole thing had sex with a Rancor.” Featuring six limbs and a fearsome appearance, the D-Rex is designed to invoke both fear and sympathy.

David Vickery from Industrial Light & Magic highlights the complexity of the D-Rex design, stating, “It’s as if another animal has been wrapped around the T-Rex. Gareth wanted us to feel sorry for it as well as terrified.”

The film will also introduce the Mutadons, winged predators that combine features of pterosaurs and Raptors. Screenwriter David Koepp emphasized that these creatures are products of experimental failures, suggesting, “Those can’t all have gone well.”

The movie takes a darker turn, reflecting on the consequences of humanity’s meddling with dinosaur DNA. As the team of scientists navigates through dinosaur-infested lands, they are met with horrors beyond imagination.
