Kano Hisbah Apprehends TikTok Influencer Over Indecent Video Allegations
The Kano State Hisbah Board, a religious enforcement agency, has apprehended a young TikTok influencer, Hafsat Babu, on allegations of creating and disseminating indecent videos. Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, the head of Hisbah, announced the arrest of Hafsat, who has gained notoriety for spreading controversial content on TikTok.
On Monday morning, Sheikh Daurawa released a video of the young woman among several other women arrested by the agency, though he did not provide further details about her specific charges. Her arrest follows the viral spread of her recent video, which has stirred public outrage.
The controversial video surfaced shortly after Hafsat shared a different video in which she expressed remorse and claimed to have deleted all inappropriate content from her TikTok profile. This confession came after a previous encounter with Hisbah, where she was admonished for her activities on the platform.
In response to the emerging scandal, Hafsat released an audio statement on TikTok, claiming that the contentious video was recorded over two years ago. She stated she was unaware of how it had been released since she had deleted it from her phone and had not shared it with anyone.
“I had just come out of the shower and recorded myself on Snapchat,” she explained in the audio clip, whose authenticity has yet to be verified. “I didn’t save it on my phone or send it to anyone.”
This incident coincides with a similar controversy involving another TikTok star, Babiana Queen of Update, who alleged that her video was leaked by individuals who had earlier demanded money from her, threatening exposure if she refused.
