Kansas City Current Vs Orlando Pride Soccer Match

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 15, 2025) – The Kansas City Current (13-2-0, 1st place) will host the Orlando Pride (8-4-3, 2nd place) in a crucial National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) match on Saturday, Aug. 16, at CPKC Stadium. This high-stakes encounter kicks off at 3 p.m. CT and marks the Current’s first home game in eight weeks.

The match will celebrate Brain Health Awareness Night presented by The University of Kansas Health System. Fans can watch the game nationally on CBS, featuring commentary by Lori Lindsey and Chris Wittyngham.

Kansas City has dominated at home, boasting an impressive 24-1-3 record since the stadium’s opening on March 16, 2024. The Current are the only team in the league this season without a home loss. Forward Temwa Chawinga has been vital to this success, contributing significantly with 21 goals in her 19 regular-season matches at CPKC Stadium.

Chawinga, the 2024 NWSL MVP and Golden Boot winner, leads the current Golden Boot race with 10 goals. Her goal-scoring prowess has helped Kansas City maintain a 12-point lead over Orlando in the standings. Kansas City’s goal difference stands at plus-22, while Orlando’s is plus-10.

Both teams come into the match with a strong sense of rivalry, despite their short competitive history. Kansas City previously faced elimination from the playoffs by the Pride, adding intensity to this matchup.

This weekend, the Current aim to extend their eight-match winning streak, tying them with Orlando for the second longest in NWSL history. Head coach and sporting director Vlatko Andonovski will reach a milestone by coaching his 200th regular-season game in the league.

Injuries will affect the teams, as Kansas City will be without Gabrielle Robinson, Alana Cook, Kristen Hamilton, Vanessa DiBernardo, Clare Gagne, and Elizabeth Ball. The Pride have no reported injuries.

Fans can tune into the match via the KC Current App in multiple languages and get involved in Brain Health Awareness activities before the game. Saturday’s matchup promises to be a thrilling examination of both teams’ strengths as they prepare for the playoff push.
