CHICAGO, Illinois – Brazilian flyweight Karine Silva will return to the Octagon this Saturday, August 16, at UFC 319 after suffering her first UFC loss last November. Silva, now 31, carries a 5-1 record in the UFC following a setback against Viviane Araújo at UFC 309 in New York City.

Silva is eager to bounce back against Dione Barbosa, who stepped in as her opponent on short notice after JJ Aldrich was removed from the card. “I missed fight week,” said Silva. “I’m feeling very ready, so I’ve just come here now to savor this week that is always wonderful and seek victory on Saturday.”

Having trained closely with fellow fighters in The Fighting Nerds team, including Caio Borralho and Carlos Prates, Silva believes she’s prepared for any challenge. “The plan remains the same: perform with excellence and seek victory,” she stated.

This matchup marks a significant moment for Silva, who hopes to prove that her loss has only fueled her growth. “I think I’m in the right place,” she said. “After this victory, I’m aiming to take new and bigger steps towards winning the belt.”

The fight will be part of an exciting card that features a main event between middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis and challenger Khamzat Chimaev. Fans can expect a thrilling evening of fights at the United Center, with prelims starting at 8 p.m. ET and the main card at 10 p.m. ET
