Karol G Releases Dramatic Teaser for Upcoming Album Tropicoqueta

MIAMI, FL – Colombian singer Karol G has teamed up with five iconic telenovela stars to promote her new album, Tropicoqueta. In a nearly two-minute Spanish-language video released on June 16, the artist showcases a dramatic story reminiscent of 1990s Latin soap operas.

The video features Karol alongside actresses Anahí, Itatí Cantoral, Gaby Spanic, Ninel Conde, and Azela Robinson. In a twist of love and rivalry, Karol and Anahí vie for the affection of a young Ricky Martin, who appears in a vintage photo. The skit includes a memorable confrontation between the two women, highlighted by Cantoral’s famous line from her role in Maria la del Barrio.

The intense scene captures the essence of classic telenovelas, as Cantoral bursts in, shouting, “What are you doing? Don’t mess with my daughter, maldita lisiada!” To which Conde quips, “Mamacita, you’re still doing this? It’s been so many years, please get over it!”

Toward the end, Spanic and Robinson arrive in a red van, playing a track from the upcoming album. The lyrics proclaim, “The woman is iconic / she has dreams / she has goals.”

In an Instagram post, Karol shared her excitement about collaborating with the telenovela stars. “How crazy!!! Nothing like having the opportunity to make a dream come true!!!” she wrote. “It’s an honor to be in the same room with you!”

Tropicoqueta, Karol’s fifth studio album, is set to be released on June 20. The artist describes it as a heartfelt tribute to her musical roots, stating, “I’m going back to the songs I grew up listening to, to the sounds that made me fall in love with music.”
