Kathy Bates Matlock Cbs Series

NEW YORK, NY — CBS‘s top-rated series ‘Matlock‘ returned on October 12, 2025, for its second season. The legal drama features Kathy Bates as Madeline “Matty” Matlock, a former lawyer who takes on a junior associate role at a law firm in New York City to avenge her daughter’s death.

Viewers have watched Matty confront corruption every Thursday night, but this week’s episode has been put on hold. Instead, CBS will air a college basketball game between Duke and Arkansas at 8:00 p.m. ET. Fans can expect ‘Matlock’ to return on Thursday, December 4, at 9 p.m. ET.

The next episode, titled “Prior Bad Acts,” will explore Olympia’s efforts to mend her family relationships while dealing with a case involving her mother’s new husband. However, there will also be significant developments for Matty and Olympia as they receive shocking news.

‘Matlock’ faced production challenges this season after actor David Del Rio was fired amid an investigation. There is much speculation about whether Billy, the character Del Rio portrayed, will continue to be part of the storyline after November 13.

CBS did not clarify the reason behind the scheduling changes or why ‘Matlock’ is taking a break. It’s suspected that the show is reevaluating its script and storylines in light of the recent developments.

With the Winter Olympics approaching, CBS adjusted its primetime schedule. Julia’s father will return during a major resentencing case, raising tension among the firm’s partners. The show promises a gripping midseason premiere on February 26, 2026, with emotional courtroom battles ahead.

Despite the changes, fans remain excited. The revival of ‘Matlock’ continues to impress viewers with its blend of legal drama and character development.
