Kathy Ireland Reveals ‘Stalking’ Strategy to Meet Her Husband

LOS ANGELES, CA — At the MovieGuide Awards, Kathy Ireland opened up about her unconventional path to romance, revealing she ‘stalked’ her now-husband, Dr. Greg Olsen, with some assistance from her mother. The couple has been married for over 36 years.
While speaking with Fox News Digital on the red carpet, Ireland recounted how a casual lunch with her mother led to a persistent pursuit of Olsen. ‘I was having lunch with my mom, who was a nurse, and we saw this cute guy walk by. It turns out he was a doctor in his residency,’ Ireland explained. ‘So, I go back to the hospital, and my mom would find out his beeper code. We’d wait around and go to different floors where we thought we might find him.’
Initially discouraged, Ireland admitted, ‘I felt like a big loser because it just wasn’t happening. But you gotta be patient. Two months, and it worked.’ Their first date eventually blossomed into a loving marriage.
The couple wed on August 20, 1988, and has three children: Erik, Lily, and Chloe. Ireland has often expressed gratitude for her husband’s support, sharing a heartfelt throwback post on social media that celebrated their long-lasting relationship. ‘After two months of stalking (thanks for helping Mom!), I got my first date with Greg! 38 years later, this man continues to fill my heart,’ she wrote.
In her reflections, Ireland recalled a touching moment when she found a note left by her husband, adorned with their initials in a heart outline. ‘He actually wrote notes at each door of our home! Don’t stress buying gifts; the best ones are not purchased with money, they are given from the heart.’
As the couple marked their 36th wedding anniversary last August, Ireland expressed her feelings through a heartfelt message: ‘Thank you for blessing me more than I could have dreamed. You are my priceless treasure, Prince Charming, and the best catch ever! I love you more each day. I thank God for you.’
While talking about the keys to a successful marriage, Ireland shared that their union is rooted in faith. ‘It’s not a contract, it’s a covenant with God at the center,’ she said. ‘There are days when I’m not lovable, and days when he’s not lovable, but we made a promise not only to each other but to the Lord, and that is the key to our marriage.’
Ireland’s spiritual journey began at age 18, while she was modeling in Paris. Alone in her hotel room, she opened a Bible and felt a profound transformation. ‘I didn’t know how to read it. I was a rebellious teenager questioning who really knows the truth,’ she recalled. ‘But as I read, I just knew that what I was holding in my hands was the truth, and my life forever changed.’
At the MovieGuide Awards, Ireland was on hand to present the Faith and Freedom Award, expressing the importance of these values in her life. ‘We all need to have the freedom to express who we are, and my faith in Jesus, if not for that relationship, I wouldn’t be here tonight. I’d be a mess,’ she said.
The 61-year-old also reacted positively to the news that Jon Voight, Sylvester Stallone, and Mel Gibson have been appointed special envoys to Hollywood, as announced by former President Donald Trump. ‘I believe these wonderful people trust in the Lord, so my hope is they point people closer to Jesus, encourage people not to compromise, and never be ashamed of their faith,’ Ireland said.
