Katie Cassidy Stars in New Psychological Thriller ‘Nanny Cam’

NEW JERSEY — Katie Cassidy, known for her role as Laurel Lance in the CW series Arrow, is set to lead the psychological thriller Nanny Cam, which begins filming next month in New Jersey. The project, directed by Jenni ‘JWoww’ Farley, explores the struggles of new motherhood intertwined with personal demons.
Nanny Cam follows the story of Trinity, a young mother portrayed by Cassidy, who battles with her dark ancestral legacy while trying to protect her newborn from what she believes is a malevolent supernatural force. The film showcases the psychological strains and anxieties that can accompany new motherhood.
Farley, who is making her directorial second feature with Nanny Cam, draws from her personal experiences with an absent mother and the fears of first-time motherhood. “Nanny Cam delves into the chilling story of Trinity, a young woman haunted by the fears and anxieties of first-time motherhood—fears I know all too well,” Farley explained in a statement. “This film captures the unsettling darkness of those doubts, revealing how personal demons can transform the joy of motherhood into a terrifying struggle.”
Joining Cassidy in the cast are Riley Dandy, known for Christmas Bloody Christmas, Myles Clohessy of Frontier Crucible, and Sol Miranda, who appeared in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The film is produced by Joe Barbagallo and Logan Hunter of BarBhouse Productions, widely recognized for their previous work A Wounded Fawn, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Jenni Farley gained fame through the MTV reality series Jersey Shore, which showcased her life alongside fellow cast members. After her directorial debut with the found-footage horror film Devon, which premiered in 2024, Nanny Cam marks her return to the cinematic landscape.
Katie Cassidy’s recent work includes a diverse range of roles beyond Arrow, including appearances in films such as Taken and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Cassidy has not only captivated television audiences but has also made her mark in the horror genre.
The casting team for Nanny Cam, led by David Guglielmo, has brought together a strong ensemble, reflecting the film’s intense emotional themes and psychological depth.
Representatives for the cast include Independent Artist Group for Cassidy, Stride Management for Dandy, and Gotham Talent Agency for Miranda, further showcasing a talented and varied group of performers.
Nanny Cam is poised to explore the intersection of motherhood, mental health, and ancestral legacy, resonating with audiences’ personal experiences and fears.
