Katy Perry to Headline 2024 AFL Grand Final Pre-Game Show

The Australian Football League (AFL) has something exciting in store for fans this year. International pop star Katy Perry will be performing at the Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment for the 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final on September 28.

Katy Perry, known for her massive hits like ‘Roar’ and ‘Firework,’ is one of the best-selling music artists in history, with over 115 billion streams to her name. Her dynamic career includes 148 platinum ARIA certifications and multiple accolades such as five American Music Awards and four Guinness World Records.

In a recent statement, Perry expressed her excitement about returning to Australia and performing at the prestigious Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in front of 100,000 fans. She said, “I’m so excited to be back in Australia and back at the mighty MCG to perform in front of 100,000 of the best and loudest fans in the world at this year’s Toyota AFL Grand Final. See you in September Oi Oi Oi!”

The AFL community is buzzing with enthusiasm to have such a renowned artist at the event. Kylie Rogers, the AFL’s Executive General Manager for Customer and Commercial, said they are thrilled to have Perry perform, stating that the AFL continues to attract world-class artists.

Brent Smart from Telstra, the event’s sponsor for four consecutive years, also shared his excitement, emphasizing that they wanted to celebrate this season in a big way. He mentioned, “We’re very excited to be bringing another internationally renowned artist to the MCG for what we hope will be one of the most memorable performances to date.”

Matt Gudinski, Chief Executive of Mushroom Group, highlighted the significance of the entertainment lineup for the AFL Grand Final, mentioning past performances by other major artists like Robbie Williams and KISS. Gudinski stated, “Together with the AFL, Mushroom has delivered a stellar entertainment line-up year after year and 2024 is no different.”

Katy Perry’s sixth studio album titled ‘143’ is set to release on September 20 and is already available for pre-order. The AFL is expected to announce additional performers and special events as the grand final date approaches.
