Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Bring Pop Culture to Life in ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ 2024 Halloween Special
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos once again delivered a memorable and entertaining Halloween special on their show, ‘Live with Kelly and Mark.’ The 2024 edition of the annual celebration was filled with over 40 costume changes, musical tributes, and skits that highlighted some of the biggest pop culture moments of the year.
The show kicked off with a musical tribute to Nicole Kidman‘s musical sequence from the Netflix hit ‘The Perfect Couple,’ with the cast and crew dressed as characters from ‘Beetlejuice,’ including Ripa as Winona Ryder and Consuelos as Michael Keaton. The duo also paid homage to Hulu‘s ‘Only Murders in the Building‘ and Disney and Pixar’s ‘Inside Out 2,’ introducing new emotions such as Menopause, Libido, Mood Swing, Brain Fog, and Dead Inside.
One of the standout segments was a re-imagined edition of ‘Inside Out 2,’ where Ripa and Consuelos portrayed characters navigating the emotions of a 50-year-old Riley. Another notable skit was a steamy spoof of a Hallmark Christmas movie titled ‘A Gold Medal Christmas,’ featuring the cohosts as Olympians, including references to Australian break-dancing icon Raygun and pole-vaulting athlete Anthony Ammirati.
The show also featured quick-change costumes, with Ripa and Consuelos dressing up as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, and later as Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix‘s Joker from ‘Joker: Folie à Deux.’ They even interviewed NSYNC‘s Joey Fatone, who appeared dressed as Wolverine.
In addition to the elaborate costumes and skits, the show included an in-studio Halloween costume contest where fans competed for over $5,000 in prizes. The grand prize went to a woman from New Jersey for her creative ‘A Sticky Situation’ costume, representing gum stuck on the bottom of one’s shoes.
The preparation for this annual event is extensive, with the team already planning next year’s show immediately after the current one wraps up. This level of dedication and creativity has made ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ a staple for Halloween entertainment.
