Kendrick Lamar Leads 2025 BET Awards Nominations with Ten Nods

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (May 8, 2025) – BET announced today that Kendrick Lamar leads the nominations for the 2025 BET Awards, receiving a total of ten nods. The announcement comes as the highly-anticipated awards event approaches, scheduled to air live on June 9 from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Lamar’s nominations include ‘Album of the Year’ for his work ‘GNX,’ as well as ‘Video of the Year’ for his single ‘Not Like Us.’ He has also secured three nominations for the ‘Viewer’s Choice Award’ for his tracks ‘Not Like Us,’ ‘Luther’ featuring SZA, and ‘Like That’ collaborated with Future and Metro Boomin. Additionally, Lamar received three nods for ‘Best Collaboration’ and nominations for ‘Video Director of the Year’ and ‘Best Male Hip Hop Artist.’

Following Lamar are Doechii, Drake, Future, and GloRilla, each earning six nominations. Doechii’s nominations include ‘Album of the Year’ for ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’ and ‘Viewer’s Choice Award’ for ‘Denial is a River.’

Drake’s nominations feature ‘Album of the Year’ for ‘$ome $exy $ongs 4 U’ and ‘Video of the Year’ for ‘Family Matters.’ Future also made the cut with ‘Album of the Year’ for ‘We Don’t Trust You.’

Meanwhile, GloRilla’s six nominations reflect her work on ‘Glorious,’ which is up for ‘Album of the Year,’ among others. SZA and The Weeknd each received four nominations, while several other artists, including Arya Starr and Chris Brown, earned three nods.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the BET Awards, set to showcase multicultural talents across music, television, film, and sports. Voting for the ‘Viewer’s Choice Award’ will open soon, adding excitement for fans ahead of the ceremony.

Jesse Collins Entertainment will produce the event, with comedian Kevin Hart serving as the host. The nominations were selected by the BET Voting Academy, comprised of industry influencers and professionals.

The 2025 BET Awards will highlight significant contributions to Black culture and excellence in the creative arts, promising a star-studded evening filled with notable performances and recognition.
