Effingham, IL — Kendrick Lamar and SZA‘s hit single “Luther” has officially topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a sixth consecutive week, solidifying its status as one of the most successful rap tracks in recent years. Released earlier this year, the song pays tribute to late R&B legend Luther Vandross through a prominent sample, marking Lamar’s sixth No. 1 hit and SZA’s third on the chart.

The collaborative effort not only extends both artists’ longest reigns but also ties with Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me” for the longest duration at the No. 1 position for a rap song this decade. Harlow’s track similarly dominated the charts for six weeks from 2023 to 2024. The only rap song to achieve greater success in the past decade is Roddy Ricch’s “The Box,” which held the top spot for 11 weeks in 2020.

According to Billboard, “Luther” received notable airplay, garnering 56.2 million radio impressions, an increase of 1% from the previous week. Despite a slight dip in streaming figures, which fell to 27.9 million (down 11%), the song saw an uptick in sales, moving 3,000 copies, up 12% from last week. Additionally, the single has remained at No. 1 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts for 13 weeks, highlighting its crossover appeal.

This week also saw significant debuts in the Top 10. Playboi Carti made a notable impact with two tracks from his new album “MUSIC.” “Evil J0rdan” debuted at No. 2, while “Rather Lie,” featuring The Weeknd, opened at No. 4. Carti’s album debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart, achieving 298,000 equivalent album units sold, marking it as his second chart-topping project.

Chappell Roan’s single “The Giver” climbed to No. 5, marking her first entry into the Hot 100’s Top 5 and her first No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart. However, her previous hit, “Pink Pony Club,” saw a drop to No. 9 this week.

In further movements within the Hot 100’s Top 10, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” fell from No. 3 to No. 2, while Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” slid to No. 6. Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” climbed two spots to No. 7, and Lamar’s own “Not Like Us” slipped from No. 3 to No. 8. The chart will officially update on Billboard.com on April 1.
