Kenny Chesney Sphere Las Vegas Concert Teaser

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The Sphere, Las Vegas‘ iconic 360-foot-tall entertainment venue, has sparked speculation that country music superstar Kenny Chesney may be its next headliner. On Wednesday, Jan. 15, the Sphere’s social media accounts posted a cryptic video featuring ocean waters receding to reveal a weathered blue chair, an acoustic guitar, and a cowboy hat, accompanied by a side-eyes emoji.

The post immediately fueled rumors among fans, with many connecting the imagery to Chesney’s signature “old blue chair,” a recurring motif in his music and branding. “I was waiting for Kenny Chesney to appear in his ‘old blue chair,'” one fan commented on the Sphere’s Instagram post. Another added, “Kenny!!! This is going to be a good show.”

Chesney, a four-time Entertainer of the Year winner at both the CMA and ACM Awards, has long been associated with the iconic blue chair. The symbol first appeared in his 2004 song “Old Blue Chair” and has since become a staple of his brand, including album covers, promotional materials, and his Blue Chair Bay rum line. A representative for Chesney declined to comment on the speculation when contacted by Billboard.

The Sphere, which opened in September 2023, has quickly become a landmark in Las Vegas, known for its immersive audio-visual experiences. The 18,600-capacity venue features a wraparound interior LED screen, an LED exterior, and 4D effects, making it a premier destination for live entertainment. Artists like U2, the Eagles, and Dead & Company have already performed at the venue.

Chesney is set to make an announcement on Thursday, Jan. 16, during appearances on NBC‘s TODAY show and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In a recent press statement, Chesney hinted at major plans for 2025, saying, “This year is going to be unlike any other. It’s one of those things where you can’t just throw it out there — so I am really glad we’re getting to spend some time at TODAY, then The Tonight Show.”

Fans are eagerly awaiting confirmation of what could be a groundbreaking performance at the Sphere, further solidifying Chesney’s status as one of country music’s most dynamic live performers.
