Kia Australia Unveils Star Studded Ute Commercial Featuring Sporting Icons

Australia’s automotive industry is abuzz as Kia Australia recently launched a star-studded television commercial featuring 20 iconic Australian sporting legends, unveiling their highly anticipated entry into the competitive ute market.

The advertisement, which aired during the NRL‘s double-header, showcased the sporting icons gathering at an iconic Aussie pub to debate the name of Kia Australia’s forthcoming ute model.

Kia Australia’s CEO, Damien Meredith, expressed great excitement about the brand’s official entry into the market segment, which is dominated by popular models like the Ford Ranger, Toyota HiLux, and Isuzu D-Max.

The TVC campaign marks a significant step for Kia Australia, as they begin accepting expressions of interest for the new ute, set to be unveiled in late 2024 and available in showrooms by 2025.

Dean Norbiato, Kia Australia’s general manager of marketing, explained that the campaign drew inspiration from Australian culture, showcasing the country’s love for nicknames and sporting heroes.

The commercial features an impressive lineup of sporting stars, including Ash Barty, who collectively boast 29 premierships, 26 grand slams, and numerous other accolades that highlight their legendary status in Australian sports.

Norbiato emphasized the unique Australian essence of the ute launch, describing it as Kia’s most Australian product to date and a testament to the brand’s commitment to engaging with the Aussie audience.
