Kid Rock’s Awkward Flirtation with BBC Presenter Sparks Outrage
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Musician Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, sparked controversy Monday during a live BBC interview with Irish journalist Caitríona Perry when he told her she “sounds sexy” and invited her to go skiing.
Perry, reporting live from a rooftop in Washington, D.C., described the chilly conditions and her ski gear attire. Rock, a longtime supporter of former President Donald Trump, was in the city to perform at an event. The exchange quickly turned awkward when Rock remarked, “You sound sexy, you want to go with me?” Perry, visibly taken aback, laughed awkwardly and deflected the comment, saying, “Well, we won’t get into that right here!”
Clips of the interaction circulated widely on social media, with many viewers criticizing Rock’s behavior. TV critic Scott Bryan called it “some of the most awkward television you’ll see this year,” while others labeled it inappropriate and unprofessional.
This incident follows a recent Fox and Friends Weekend interview where Rock recounted a phone call from Trump and Melania, during which he joked about using strippers at his performance. Rock has been a vocal supporter of Trump, often aligning himself with the former president’s controversial rhetoric.
Earlier this year, Rock faced backlash for using racist language and allegedly brandishing a gun during an altercation with a journalist. His latest remarks during the BBC interview have reignited criticism of his conduct and the media’s handling of such figures.
