Kiedis Celebrates L.A. Ahead of 2028 Olympics
Anthony Kiedis, the frontman for Red Hot Chili Peppers, has a lot of love for Los Angeles. As we gear up for the 2028 Olympics, Kiedis has been given the spotlight to talk about why the City of Angels holds a special place in his heart.
Performing at the closing festivities of the Olympics, Kiedis and his band gave an unexpected slow rendition of their hit song ‘Can’t Stop.’ As part of the Olympic transition from Paris to L.A., Kiedis took part in a promo video where he shared his passion for the city.
In the video, he said, ‘The Red Hot Chili Peppers, at our essence, like to get in a room and make noise, and bring everything that we experience in life into what we do — and L.A. is definitely one of those dimensions.’ The iconic track ‘Dani California‘ played in the background as he spoke.
Kiedis expressed his love for the ocean, mountains, and palm trees, commenting, ‘I love that people come here to try their hand at life. L.A., it still has a spirit. There’s still a reason why the world is fascinated by everything L.A.’
Having written famous L.A. anthems like ‘Californication’ and ‘Under the Bridge,’ Kiedis embodies that fascination with the city. He even jokingly offered his services to Team USA for the upcoming Olympics, stating, ‘Our first record came out in ’84, along with the L.A. Olympics.’ He reminisced about the vibrant music scene of the time, tied to the punk rock movement.
By the time the 2028 Summer Olympics roll around, Kiedis will be 65 years old. Interestingly, he noted that he would fit in perfectly with the current stars of Team USA basketball like Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James.
Other celebrities participating in the Olympic handoff from Paris to L.A. included Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Billie Eilish, and Tom Cruise, adding to the excitement of this upcoming global event.
