XO, Kitty Season 2 Ends on Romantic Cliffhanger, Fans Await Season 3
SEOUL, South Korea — The second season of Netflix‘s hit series “XO, Kitty” premiered on Jan. 16, 2025, leaving fans on the edge of their seats with a dramatic cliffhanger. The show, a spinoff of the beloved “To All the Boys I've Loved Before” trilogy, follows Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart) as she navigates love, family secrets, and self-discovery at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS).
Season 2 delves deeper into Kitty’s journey, as she uncovers surprising truths about her late mother’s past and her extended family in South Korea. The eight-episode season also explores Kitty’s evolving relationships, including a complicated love triangle with her friends Yuri (Gia Kim) and Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee). The finale leaves viewers hanging as Kitty and Min Ho’s potential romance remains unresolved.
Showrunner Jessica O'Toole hinted at more to come, telling Netflix, “Yeah, she wants to come back. And now that she knows she has a cousin, now that she’s got this great aunt, there you go. She’s got family there.” Principal Lee (Michael K. Lee) also renewed Kitty’s scholarship, setting the stage for a potential third season.
Season 2 also features a brief cameo from Noah Centineo, reprising his role as Peter Kavinsky, and the return of Kitty’s older sister, Margot Song Covey (Parrish). The season explores themes of family love and reconciliation, as Kitty works to reunite her grandmother with her long-lost sister.
As for Kitty’s love life, the season ends with uncertainty. While her romantic connection with Yuri seems closed, her relationship with Min Ho remains unresolved. The finale teases a possible summer adventure together, but fans will have to wait for Season 3 to see if their story continues.
Netflix has not yet renewed “XO, Kitty” for a third season, but the show’s strong viewership numbers suggest a green light could be imminent. As of Jan. 17, 2025, “XO, Kitty” is the No. 1 show in the U.S. on Netflix.
