Kristen Bell Shares Secrets to Lasting Love with Dax Shepard

LOS ANGELES, California — Kristen Bell has opened up about the foundational trust that has helped her maintain an 11-year marriage to fellow actor Dax Shepard. In an interview with E! News, the actress discussed how they navigate the challenges of their careers while staying committed to family.
“Even if Dax hooks up with the most beautiful person in the world at work, I know he’s committed to our family,” Bell said. The couple shares daughters Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9, and this foundational trust enables them to tackle insecurities stemming from their professional lives.
Bell, 44, acknowledged that while feelings of jealousy can surface, open communication is key. “We’re just human, right?” she stated. “Maybe there could be a day where I’m like, ‘I’m actually really nervous that you spend time with that person.’ And he could say, ‘Oh, OK, let’s talk about it. What makes you nervous? What are you thinking?’ We have very open communication.”
The two actors, who met at a birthday party in 2007, married in 2013, waiting for the legalization of same-sex marriage in California as a show of solidarity. Bell emphasized that their strong bond at home often translates into their working relationships. “We root for each other,” she stated, expressing her enthusiasm when Shepard had to film a romantic scene on the show Parenthood. “When he got to make out with Minka Kelly, I was like, ‘Yes. Get it.’ We’re married, we’re not dead.”
Shepard, 50, reciprocated Bell’s feelings and has been equally supportive, understanding that there are no real threats in her onscreen relationships. Bell quipped, “Dax also knows there’s no real threat there because Adam and I, if you were to see us in person, there is not chemistry. We bicker all the time. We’re like an old granny and grampy. It’s not hot and heavy on set at all.”
Through the years, both actors have learned the importance of recognizing their attractions to others while remaining committed to their marriage. “I’m attracted to other guys because some other guys are very handsome,” Bell said on a previous talk show. “But me being attracted to another man has absolutely nothing to do with my husband. I know for a fact that when he experiences the same thing, it doesn’t mean that I’m not good enough.”
The journey for Bell and Shepard has been filled with ups and downs, especially during the early stages of their relationship when Shepard navigated feelings of jealousy from past relationships. “There was a ton of jealousy, for pretty good reasons,” Shepard admitted during an interview.
As they prepare to celebrate another year together, Bell’s insights reflect their commitment to fostering a strong and trusting partnership amidst the pressures of Hollywood.
