Krysten Ritter Joins New Dexter Series as Guest Star

NEW YORK, NY — Actress Krysten Ritter has been cast in a guest role for Showtime’s upcoming drama series, Dexter: Resurrection, scheduled to premiere this summer on Paramount+ with Showtime. Sources confirmed to Deadline that Ritter will portray Mia Lapierre, a noted sommelier who harbors a potential dark secret.
Excitement surged among fans when Ritter posted an Instagram story yesterday stating, “NYC bound baby,” coinciding with a Collider interview featuring Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane. In that interview, Scardapane announced that production for the second season of the Disney+ series is set to begin imminently.
Ritter’s casting in Dexter: Resurrection follows recent comments by Brad Winderbaum, a streaming and TV executive at Marvel Studios, indicating that Marvel is “exploring” options for bringing back characters like her Jessica Jones in other projects. This led to speculation on social media about Ritter possibly returning to her acclaimed role in Daredevil.
However, sources have confirmed that Ritter is indeed heading to New York for her role in Dexter: Resurrection, which features a main cast that includes David Zayas, James Remar, Jack Alcott, Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, and more. Filming for the show commenced last month in New York City.
The revival of the iconic series will be executive produced by Clyde Phillips, who reprises his role as showrunner. Michael C. Hall also returns as an executive producer alongside Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns, with Marcos Siega onboard as the producing director. Monica Raymund will direct four episodes, while Siega will direct six episodes of the series. Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios produce the show, with distribution handled by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
Ritter most recently starred in the Orphan Black spinoff Echoes, which aired on AMC and BBC America, and was part of the cast for Max’s limited series Love & Death. Additionally, her second novel, Retreat, is scheduled for release on March 25. She is represented by CAA, Industry Entertainment, and Brecheen Feldman Breimer Silver Thompson.
