Kurt Russell Keith David Reunion Hollywood Walk Of Fame

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Fans of horror cinema were delighted on April 3 when actors Kurt Russell and Keith David reunited at a ceremony honoring director John Carpenter, who received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In footage shared by writer Wynter Mitchell, Russell and David were seen embracing each other and sharing warm exchanges. Russell complimented his co-star, saying, “You look terrific.” The two actors starred together in the 1982 film, The Thing, a classic horror movie where they played American researchers in Antarctica fighting against a shape-shifting alien.

The Thing remains significant as it is the only film that features both Russell and David, despite their extensive collaborations with John Carpenter. Their characters, MacReady and Childs, stand as the sole survivors of the film, culminating in an iconic and ambiguous ending that leaves audiences questioning which character, if any, was possessed by the extraterrestrial entity.

The reunion clip has since gone viral, resonating with fans who expressed their joy on social media. One user stated, “Dudes rock,” while another shared, “This s*** means something to me, man.” A third fan called them “two absolute icons and legends.”

Some fans added a humorous touch to the conversation, with one jokingly asking, “Somebody quick, ask them if Giles or MacReady was The Thing at the end of the movie?” In addition, spectators noted the presence of The Thing cinematographer Dean Cundey captured in the background of the assembly, prompting one onlooker to remark, “Dean Cundey glaring at them in the background is killing me.”

Russell has collaborated with Carpenter on multiple films, including Escape from New York, its sequel Escape from LA, and Big Trouble in Little China. David appeared in Carpenter’s 1988 cult classic, They Live.

During his remarks at the Walk of Fame ceremony, Russell emphasized Carpenter’s significance in the film industry, stating, “There are very, very few directors whose signature is so clearly and instantly stamped upon a film that within thirty seconds of viewing it, the informed watcher can boldly and confidently say out loud, oh that’s directed by so and so. John Carpenter is one of those rare, very few so and so’s…there’s nobody more deserving, my friend, than John Carpenter.”

Carpenter, expressing gratitude for the recognition, thanked the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, sharing, “I was looking for a career in Hollywood. Well, I found my career. And today, I have found Hollywood.”
