Ashton Kutcher Mila Kunis Family Hygiene Habits

LOS ANGELES, CA — Actors Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis recently opened up about their unique approach to personal hygiene regarding their two children, Dimitri and Wyatt, during an appearance on Dax Shepard‘s podcast.

The couple admitted that they do not bathe their children daily, a practice that has sparked both intrigue and backlash from the public. Kunis stated, “When I had children, I also didn’t wash them every day. I wasn’t the parent that bathed my newborns — ever.” Kutcher chimed in, suggesting that he only uses soap on his “armpits and crotch” and nothing else.

During their conversation, the topic arose when Shepard discussed a disagreement he had with co-host Monica Padman about bathing habits. Padman expressed disbelief that anyone would not wash their entire body daily. Kunis responded candidly, explaining that her childhood experience influenced her current approach: “I didn’t have hot water growing up as a child, so I didn’t shower very much anyway.”

Kutcher reinforced their family’s relaxed hygiene standards by adding, “If you can see the dirt on ’em, clean ’em; otherwise, there’s no point.” While some view their methods as unconventional, research supports the idea that early exposure to germs may be beneficial for children.

Experts advocate for the ‘hygiene hypothesis,’ which suggests that limited exposure to certain microorganisms during childhood can lead to allergies and other health issues later in life. Dr. Thom McDade from Northwestern University explains that a child’s immune system benefits from encounters with everyday germs.

The couple’s relaxing hygiene approach stands in stark contrast to rising social media trends advocating elaborate bathing routines. While some influencers meticulously document their skincare and cleansing processes, others argue that excessive cleaning may aggravate skin conditions like eczema. Ultimately, the Kutcher-Kunis family’s perspective on cleanliness may not align with traditional standards, but it works for them.

As they navigate parenthood, Kutcher and Kunis seem unfazed by outside opinions, raising their children in a way that feels right to them. Kunis reflected, “If it works for us, who are we to judge?”
