Kylian Mbappe Invests in German Firm Loewe with Eye on Growth
French football superstar Kylian Mbappe has made a significant investment in Loewe Technology GmbH, a German electronics company. This strategic move is anticipated to enhance the company’s sales and possibly lead to an initial public offering (IPO) in the future, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Through his investment firm, Coalition Capital, Mbappe has acquired a minority stake of more than 10% in Loewe. The actual transaction value remains undisclosed. This development follows Mbappe’s earlier engagement as a brand ambassador for Loewe, a firm renowned for its high-end television sets.
Aslan Khabliev, Chief Executive Officer of Loewe, expressed optimism for the company’s financial trajectory, stating that they aim to significantly increase their annual revenue from the current €60 million to approximately €300 million within the next few years. “Loewe’s valuation ideally grows to about €500 million over the next roughly five years,” Khabliev remarked.
The company intends to capitalize on growing markets in North America and Asia, targeting these regions as key areas for expansion. Khabliev mentioned that the collaboration with Mbappe is inspired by tennis player Roger Federer’s successful partnership with the sports brand On.
This is not the first business venture by the 25-year-old Real Madrid player this year. Mbappe previously acquired a stake in Stade Malherbe Caen, a French second-division football club, from Oaktree Capital Management.
Loewe is keen to leverage Mbappe’s vast online presence, which includes an impressive following of 122 million on Instagram. Khabliev noted, “Kylian helped tremendously with a bluetooth speaker we have developed with him.” This product has also been promoted on social media by several of Mbappe’s teammates from the French national football team.
