Lagos State Government To Close Third Mainland Bridge For 24 Hours For Major Repair Works

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to close the Third Mainland Bridge for 24 hours to facilitate major repair works. The closure will affect both carriageways of the bridge from noon on Wednesday, 28th to noon on Thursday, 29th February, 2024.

The decision for the Third Mainland Bridge closure was made by the Federal Ministry of Works to enable the contractor to carry out essential repair tasks on the bridge. This closure will allow for a significant aspect of the ongoing maintenance work to be completed.

Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, confirmed the impending closure and advised road users to utilize alternative routes during this period. Both inbound and outbound traffic to and from the bridge will be restricted for the 24-hour period.

Since January, repair activities have been in progress on the Third Mainland Bridge, leading to partial closures for traffic. This 24-hour shut down is a critical phase in the restoration process to ensure the safety and longevity of the bridge.
