Lakers Vs Timberwolves Playoff April 2025

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Lakers bounced back in Game 2 of their playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, securing a 94-85 victory on Tuesday night. This win evens the best-of-seven series at 1-1 as the teams now head to Minnesota for Game 3.

The Lakers had a strong lead early in the game, jumping ahead by as many as 22 points. However, they struggled to maintain that momentum through a physical matchup that featured 46 personal fouls. LeBron James led the Lakers with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, while Luka Dončić contributed 31 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists.

James reflected on the team’s performance, noting, “We looked at what we didn’t do so well, which is a lot of things in Game 1. We took it to heart, held each other accountable and had a much better result.” Despite only scoring 60 points in the final three quarters, the Lakers managed to keep the Timberwolves at bay.

The Timberwolves, who had dominated in Game 1 with 21 three-pointers, found their offensive fluidity stifled in Game 2. Anthony Edwards, who scored 27 points, acknowledged the Lakers’ defensive adjustments, saying, “The way that they’re guarding us, when I catch the ball, they kind of go zone, and when I try to attack a gap, it’s like three people.”

Coach JJ Redick expressed his pride in the team’s response after a disappointing start to the series. He acknowledged, however, that maintaining focus required some tough love during timeouts. “I think tonight was just more about getting that urgency button switched back on,” he said.

As the series shifts to Minnesota, both teams are looking for adjustments ahead of Game 3, which is set for Friday night. The Timberwolves hope to regain their shooting touch, while the Lakers aim for consistent performances from their stars.
