Lana Del Rey Stuns at 2025 Met Gala with Unique Alligator Hair Pins

NEW YORK CITY — Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey captivated attendees at the 2025 Met Gala, showcasing a stunning couture Valentino gown and distinct alligator slide clips in her hair. The annual event took place on a rainy Monday night, serving as a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Del Rey’s gown featured a sheer lace back, a satin train, and a shoulder bow detail. She was escorted by Alessandro Michele, the brand’s creative director. However, it was her hair accessories that turned heads, featuring gold alligators that fans speculated were a nod to her husband, Jeremy Dufrene, a native of Des Allemands, Louisiana.

Eagle-eyed social media users noted that the alligators could symbolize Dufrene’s role as an alligator tour guide, as he leads bayou tours that showcase local wildlife. The singer has spent significant time in New Orleans and the surrounding swamps, further solidifying her connection to the region.

The alligator clips were designed by a new accessory brand called Relic Room, co-founded by New Orleans natives Lilly Meissner and Kamila Chavis. The brand, which is set to launch publicly later this month, has been creating luxury pieces inspired by Southern Gothic culture since the pandemic began. ‘We’ve spent the last few years slowly creating a luxury brand that embodies all things Southern Gothic Luxury,’ Meissner said.

Relic Room made its debut at Paris Fashion Week in September 2024, showcasing unique designs that also include representations of spiders, insects, bird feet, and even a femur. The pieces will soon be available online and in select local boutiques.

This year’s Met Gala theme, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,’ highlighted the historical significance of Black dandyism and its influence on modern fashion. The gala celebrated how Black individuals transformed their identity and style through self-fashioning.

As the Met Gala concluded, Del Rey garnered attention not just for her fashion choices but also for the deeper narrative behind her accessories, echoing her love story and connection to Louisiana.
