Late Night Shows Take Winter Break, Colbert Welcomes Star-Studded Guests

NEW YORK — Several popular late-night hosts, including Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, and Jimmy Kimmel, are taking a mid-winter break this week. As these shows pause, Stephen Colbert‘s program will air new episodes, starting tonight with a lineup featuring notable guests.
Colbert will welcome former ‘Daily Show‘ correspondent John Oliver, whose series ‘Last Week Tonight‘ returned for its 12th season last night. Other guests throughout the week will include actor George Clooney, Robert De Niro, meteorologist Al Roker, and political figure Monica Lewinsky.
‘After Midnight’ is also taking a short hiatus, with host Taylor Tomlinson extending her break for Presidents’ Day and set to return tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Fallon will take a week-long break after his last show on Friday and participating in last night’s special. Fallon’s show, along with others, will return on February 24. Seth Meyers’ show is dark for two weeks due to his involvement with the SNL 50th anniversary special, where he served as a staff writer alongside several former ‘Saturday Night Live‘ alumni.
Despite the break for popular late-night shows, ‘Saturday Night Live’ will return next week after a short pause following six hours of new content over the weekend. The cast and crew are scheduled to prepare for the March 1 episode starting this coming week.
As the late-night landscape shifts, audiences will have to wait a little longer for their favorite shows, although Colbert’s will shine this week with an upbeat slate of guests. In a statement, Colbert expressed his excitement for the guest roster, calling it a great way to kick off their latest set of episodes.
Fans of these shows can mark their calendars for February 24 when several programs are scheduled to return, promising fresh takes and engaging conversations to follow the winter break.
