From animated superheroes to gritty crime dramas, this year’s offerings highlight the growing influence of Latinx creators and actors in the industry.

One of the standout series is NBC’s Lopez vs Lopez, which premiered its third season on January 3. The show, created by Salvadoran-Jewish writer Debby Wolfe, stars real-life father-daughter duo George and Mayan Lopez as fictionalized versions of themselves. The series explores themes of family reconciliation and generational conflict, with guest appearances from veterans of the original George Lopez show, including Constance Marie and Belita Moreno.

The series has consistently attracted over three million viewers per episode, cementing its place as a fan favorite.

Another ABC hit, Will Trent, returned for its third season on January 7. The crime drama stars Ramón Rodríguez as a Special Agent for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Disney+ is set to premiere Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man on January 29, offering a fresh take on the iconic superhero. The animated series features Colman Domingo, of Belizean and Guatemalan descent, as Norman Osborn, a mentor to Peter Parker. The show is set in an alternate Marvel Multiverse timeline, promising a unique twist on the Spider-Man origin story.

Netflix’s Mo, created by and starring Palestinian-American comedian Mo Amer, returns for its second and final season on January 30. The series, which follows a Palestinian refugee navigating life in Houston, Texas, has been praised for its authentic portrayal of immigrant experiences and its blend of Arabic and Spanish languages.

Other notable releases include Cobra Kai on Netflix, which returns for its final season on February 13, and NBC’s new series Grosse Pointe Garden Society, premiering on February 23. The latter stars Melissa Fumero as part of a wealthy suburban garden club entangled in a murder scandal.

Disney+’s Andor, a Star Wars prequel series starring Mexican actor Diego Luna, will debut its second season on April 22. The show has been lauded for its storytelling and Luna’s performance as Cassian Andor, a revolutionary fighting against the Galactic Empire.

HBO Max’s The Last of Us, starring Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal, returns in April 2025. Based on the acclaimed video game, the series follows a survivor and a teenage girl navigating a post-apocalyptic world. The show has been hailed as one of the best video game adaptations ever made.
