Television presenter Laura Whitmore has come forward with serious allegations about her experience on Strictly Come Dancing. The former host of Love Island, who was a contestant in 2016, claims she faced inappropriate behavior while working with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice.

Whitmore, who had to deal with an ankle injury during her time on the show, mentioned in an Instagram story that she initially raised her concerns back in 2016. However, she later realized that her experience wasn’t unique.

In her statement, Whitmore expressed that she felt she was not alone, as she’s been in touch with six other individuals who had similar experiences with the same person. She wants to highlight a pattern of behavior that she believes must be addressed.

She clarified that she hasn’t filed an official complaint but is providing her account to assist the BBC‘s ongoing investigation. Whitmore emphasized the importance of speaking up to ensure that such incidents are recognized and prevented in the future.

Previously, Giovanni Pernice faced accusations of abusive behavior from Amanda Abbington, who was his partner on the show in 2023. However, Pernice has strongly denied these claims and insists that he is cooperating with the BBC’s review process.

The BBC, in response to these allegations, stated that they take such matters seriously and have implemented additional measures to ensure safety on the show, such as having chaperones present during rehearsals.
