Lauren Alaina Reveals Pregnancy, Shares Emotional Journey

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country music star Lauren Alaina announced she is expecting her first child with husband Cam Arnold, marking a joyful milestone after a challenging year that included the loss of her father.

On Wednesday, January 22, Alaina, 29, confirmed the pregnancy in a statement shared with People. The couple, who married in February 2024, revealed they are expecting a baby girl. The news comes nearly six months after the death of Alaina’s father in July 2023, a loss she described as deeply painful.

In a heartfelt Instagram video posted on January 28, Alaina shared a throwback clip from 20 weeks into her pregnancy. “Get ready with me and help me pray about hiding my 20-week pregnancy,” she said in the video, which was filmed two weeks before the public announcement. Alaina admitted that keeping the pregnancy a secret was stressful but also “so fun because it’s like our own little family secret.”

The pregnancy was a surprise for the couple, as Alaina explained in an interview. “We weren’t even trying to get pregnant,” she said. “I truly believe my dad got up there in heaven and said, ‘Somehow we got to get a baby involved.’”

Alaina also reflected on the timing of her latest music video, “Those Kind of Women,” which she recorded before learning of her pregnancy. “When I recorded this song, I was not pregnant,” she said. “I was not planning on getting pregnant, that was a nice little surprise.” She described the release of the song as “a little God nod” to celebrate her pregnancy.

The singer, who rose to fame as the runner-up on American Idol, has been open about her close relationship with her mother. “It’s been very stressful hiding it,” Alaina said of her pregnancy. “But it’s been so fun because it’s like our own little family secret. I live a life where everything’s in the public eye, but this little baby’s my best-kept secret to date.”

Alaina and Arnold tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville on February 4, 2024. The event was attended by 450 guests, including country music stars Jason and Brittany Aldean, Hardy, and Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney.

In a separate video, the couple revealed the sex of their baby with the help of their dogs. “Your dad sent you a built-in best friend,” one fan commented on the announcement. Alaina expressed her excitement for the future, saying, “My baby is still such a light in my life, a light in the midst of sadness and what felt like a lot of darkness.”

As Alaina prepares for motherhood, she continues to celebrate the support of her family and fans. “So very much looking forward to Baby Arnold getting here,” she said.
