Law & Order SVU and Organized Crime Stars Tease Emotional Twists in Upcoming Seasons
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Peter Scanavino, along with Danielle Moné Truitt and Ainsley Seiger, who star on the series’ spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime, shared their insights into what viewers can expect from the upcoming seasons of both shows.
In the season 24 finale of SVU, the unit joined forces with the OC crew in a crossover episode to trace the creator of Shadowërk, a dark website that facilitated rape and murder for hire, and bring him to justice. The story then continued in the OC series, delving deeper into the pursuit of the person behind the website. However, an unexpected tragedy befell the team.
During the pursuit of Kyle, the creator of the website, Jamie Whelan (played by Brent Antonello) was shot in the neck by Kyle himself, who then took his own life with a sword rather than be captured. In a selfless act, Whelan instructed a medic to help Kyle instead, in order to uncover how to shut down the website. Although Whelan survived the ordeal, he was left severely paralyzed, relying on a medical device to breathe and move.
Truitt, who plays Sergeant Ayanna Bell, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the emotional fallout from this devastating loss, stating that each character copes with it differently. Reyes, played by Rick Gonzalez, is consumed by anger, Stabler seeks solace by immersing himself in another undercover job, Jet (Seiger) keeps her emotions repressed, and Bell adopts a problem-solving approach.
Seiger expressed her excitement about exploring the characters’ personal lives in greater depth in the upcoming season and how they navigate relationships following such a traumatic event. She believes this will add a new dimension to the show, prompting viewers to think and ask questions about the characters’ lives beyond the workplace.
In the realm of SVU, Peter Scanavino, who portrays Assistant District Attorney Dominick Carisi, hinted at new developments in his character’s relationship with Rollins, as they now have a baby. However, he emphasized that the stability and strength of their relationship may be challenged in the upcoming season.
The fourth seasons of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Organized Crime will be broadcast on NBC on Thursdays and available for streaming on Peacock on Fridays.
