Lakers Preseason Game

Palm Desert, Calif.—Los Angeles Lakers stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis will not participate in the team’s preseason opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night. Both players are being withheld for rest purposes, as stated by the team’s management. However, they are anticipated to return to the court for the second preseason match set to occur on Sunday at Acrisure Arena against an unnamed opponent.

In their absence, other players will take the starting roles against Minnesota. The decision comes as both James and Davis have been heavily engaged over the summer, traveling extensively with Team USA and culminating their season with a gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics.

A significant development at the preseason opener could be the debut of James’ son and Lakers rookie, Bronny James. Lakers coach JJ Redick has expressed his intention to experiment with varying lineups throughout the exhibition games, which might provide Bronny his initial opportunity to showcase his skills at this level.

Speaking after the team’s shootaround on Friday morning, Bronny shared his thoughts on his potential debut. “Of course, there are nerves,” he admitted. “It comes with everything. But I’m just excited to go out there and learn and learn from the people playing in front of me. And if I get a chance to showcase my game, then I’m going to do that to the best of my ability.”

The rookie also mentioned that he is prepared to receive guidance from his father, LeBron, who historically spent time at Bronny’s games at various levels. “Pretty much the same thing, but now we’re teammates,” Bronny said. “So, it’s going to be more in-depth talk about the game and stuff like that. So yeah, I’m ready for it.”
