Lee Jung Jae Squid Game Season 3

SEOUL, South Korea — Lee Jung-jae, star of the hit Netflix series Squid Game, revealed that the final game in the upcoming third season was the most challenging to film. In an interview with Motion Pictures Association‘s online magazine, Lee discussed the difficulties he faced during production.

Set to premiere on June 27, 2025, Squid Game Season 3 follows Lee’s character Seong Gi-hun as he continues to navigate the deadly games. Lee commented on his experiences from previous seasons, stating, “In the first season, Gi-hun faced immense physical and mental struggles. I would say that the most difficult game I had to shoot was the last game of the first season, which is Squid Game. But across all seasons, the last round of Season 3 was by far the toughest.”

This revelation comes after the Season 2 finale left viewers in suspense, with Gi-hun’s story continuing from a place of defeat. The post-credits scene introduced Young-hee, the doll from the “Red Light, Green Light” game, alongside a new character named Cheol-su, hinting at new challenges for the characters in the final season.

Despite the show’s brutal premise, Lee emphasized the cultural impact of the children’s games depicted in Squid Game. He expressed joy in seeing fans globally resonate with the traditional games, saying, “To see the games in Squid Game go viral is really fun for us.”

The dominance of the series underscores its connection with audiences, as Squid Game broke records upon its initial release in 2021 and maintained high ratings through its second season. With Lee featuring alongside stars like Lee Byung-hun and Wi Ha-joon, anticipation is high for the final chapter of Gi-hun’s journey.
