Leeds Festival Postpones Main Arena Opening Amid Storm Lilian
Leeds Festival has announced a delay in the opening of the main arena due to adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Lilian.
The festival team issued a warning encouraging attendees to remain in their tents or vehicles as strong winds impact the Bramham Park site. Although the severe weather is expected to improve, it has led to a disruption of scheduled performances.
In a communication from the Leeds Festival team, they stated, ‘We can see an end in sight to the high winds. We definitely won’t be opening the arena at 11am, but we are targeting as soon as possible after that and we will update you further.’
Due to the severe winds, the festival confirmed that there will be no performances on both the BBC Radio 1 Stage and the Aux Stage today, marking a significant change in today’s lineup.
The festival organizers expressed hope that other scheduled events will proceed as planned, encouraging attendees to remain optimistic for the weekend.
Several performances were slated for the BBC Radio 1 Stage, including acts by beabadoobee, Ashnikko, and Destroy Boys. beabadoobee expressed her disappointment on social media, stating her enthusiasm for the event and her regret for not being able to perform.
