Legendary Cinematographer Gangu Ramsay Passes Away at 83
Veteran filmmaker and renowned cinematographer Gangu Ramsay, part of the famous Ramsay Brothers, has passed away at the age of 83.
Gangu Ramsay, known for his significant contributions in the horror film genre, breathed his last at Kokilaben Hospital after a month-long battle with health issues. Ramsay is survived by his daughter Geeta Ramsay and son Chander Ramsay.
Among the notable films Gangu Ramsay worked on are cult classics like ‘Veerana’, ‘Purana Mandir’, ‘Bandh Darwaza’, ‘Do Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche’, and ‘Khoj’ featuring the legendary Rishi Kapoor.
The Ramsay Brothers, under the guidance of the patriarch F.U. Ramsay, produced over 50 films with Gangu Ramsay’s creative vision leaving an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
Gangu Ramsay’s expertise expanded beyond Bollywood with collaborations in ‘Aashiq Awara’, aiding Saif Ali Khan‘s early career, and multiple hits with Akshay Kumar, including ‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’, ‘Sabse Bada Khiladi’, and ‘Mr and Mrs Khiladi’, among others. Ramsay also shared his talents with veteran Kannada actor Vishnuvardhan.
Not limited to the big screen, Gangu Ramsay’s work transcended to television, with successful shows like ‘The Zee Horror Show’, ‘Saturday Suspense’, ‘X Zone‘, and ‘Nagin‘ captivating audiences with their unique narratives.
